The database built into REALbasic is a single-user database engine. It is a very useful when developing a single user database application (like an address book) but it does not support multiple simultaneous users. For those situations, REAL SQL Server is ideal.

How much does REAL SQL Server cost?
REAL SQL Server is priced at $500 per server.

Can I bundle REAL SQL Server with my application and resell it?
Yes. The REAL SQL Server license allows you to resell it.

How much does it cost to bundle REAL SQL Server?
You have several options when bundling REAL SQL Server.

You can purchase servers one at a time as you need them for $500 each.

You can purchase a five pack of servers for $2,000 ($400 per server).

You can purchase a ten pack of servers for $3,000 ($300 per server).

You can purchase an unlimited deployment license for $9,000 per year.

How does the unlimited deployment plan work?
The unlimited deployment plan is the best option for any developer who expects to deploy more than 30 servers per year.

In this plan you are entitled to deploy an unlimited number of copies of REAL SQL Server with your application during a 12 month period for a fixed price. During this time period you may deploy new licenses and update any existing licenses you may have already deployed.

When your 12-month plan ends all of the licenses you deployed during this period remain active, but you cannot deploy more copies of REAL SQL Server until you renew your agreement.

Can I move my REAL SQL Server from one platform to another?
The REAL SQL Server license is not platform specific. So, you can move your server from one platform to another, but you are only allowed to run REAL SQL Server on one platform at a time.

Why not just use MySQL, since it's free?
For many developers MySQL is not free.

If you are selling commercial software that connects to MySQL you must either (a) distribute the source code to your application for free to anyone who wants it via the GPL or (b) purchase a commercial license to MySQL. These licenses start at $595/year and go up in price from there.

How many users can the REAL SQL Server handle?
Although REAL SQL Server has been tested with hundreds of simultaneous users, we recommend 10-50 simultaneous users for best results.

What is the maximum database size that REAL SQL Server can handle?
Although the hard limit is much higher, REAL SQL Server is recommended for databases up to 10 gigabytes in size.

Can I access REAL SQL Server from languages other than REALbasic?
Yes. REAL SQL Server can be accessed from PHP, C and any application that support the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) standard.
